Car hunt 2003

Well it's that time again. It's springtime, and it's been just about 3 years since I started a lease on a new car. So I've begin the fun and exciting process of researching which car I want next. I started out with the thinking that I should probably get a more fuel efficient, less powerful car. So I tossed around the idea of getting a Corolla or a 4 cyl Accord. But owning the Jetta that I have now, has ruined me for life. I've grown so accustomed to having a quick, responsive, torquey car that the thought of driving a slugish, fuel efficient econobox doesn't seem so appealing. Sure it would be nice to get 35 miles per gallon and only pay like $15.00 for a full tank of gas. But those of you who know me, know I am usually not a very practical person. I tend to do things to the excess. So why cut corners when picking a car. One of the highlights of my day is racing my coworkers down Centerville Road after work. Whatfun would it be to be eating everyones dust in a Corolla.

So now I'm considering getting a higher end car such as a BMW 325 or Acura TSX. They both put out about 200 HP or so which is a slight improvement on what I have now, and they are both supposed to handle real well. Eugene, who is an avid BMW fan, has been telling ever since he got his 323ci that I should get a BMW. So I guess there is no harm in test driving one. I'll keep everyone posted...

I started setting up my old Windows box to run advanced server last night so I could run DNS, mail, ftp, web etc. Just waiting for my DNS entries to propogate now and I should be all set. So I should soon have a new @squilky.com e-mail address shortly.

I haven't been too happy with the way the hair place near my house has been cutting my hair. It didn't help matters when I was there last time and the Korean woman cutting my hair said that President Bush and our GI's were baby killers. Why should I pay my hard earned cash to a place that is so anti American. Plus they never cut my hair short enough, so I have to keep going back every 2 weeks or so. So I had Rachel cut my hair today. It was a little nerve racking at first, but she actually did a really nice job. It may become part of her regular "wifely duties". She even faded in the sides and back the way I like it. I guess she got plenty of practice cutting her two brothers hair growing up.

I went to BJ's today to get the propane tank filled, so I'll be cooking out tonight on the new grill. Gonna start with something easy, and make some burgers. Well that's all for now, I'll post next after the big golf outing tomorrow.

Just read about the latest web craze called BLOGGING. Not exactly sure what it is, what it's capable of, or if this will be anything worthwhile. But I'm here at my desk at work on my lunch break eating a hibachi chicken bowl and I thought it would be fun to try. My life isn't terribly exciting, so if you see a posting about how I had dinner with the cast of the Sopranos, I probably made it up. And even if there is photographs to back up my claims, don't believe me. I'm quite handy with Photoshop. Well I guess this will be a little exercise in what is true and what is not. Move over Ripley, welcome to Kraus's Believe It... or NOT!

I got a new gas grill last night. A 40,000 BTU bad boy from Sears. Look for some pictures at a later date. I stil don't have my gas tank filled with propane so I haven't tried it out yet. If this is my only and last post, it's safe to assume that I didn't put the grill together correctly and I was killed in a horrific explosion.

I'm playing in my companies golf tournament on friday, hopefully I have a good day that day and don't embarras myself. The forecast calls for warm temperatures in the low 80's with a chance of thunderstorms. Thunderstorms and golf mean 2 things... 1) someone could get struck by lightening or 2) someones hands will get wet from the rain and they will lose grip of their club and send it flying farther than the ball they are trying to hit. 3) The rain will soak me along with the rest of my coworkers and we'll be horrified by the wet t-shirt contest featuring Marge from accounting and Betty from Marketing. Till next time...
